Special Off-Leash Hours

Some parks have special off-leash hours on weekends and certain months:

• Robbins Farm Park: Off-leash hours are from 6:00 AM to 7:45 AM and 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM on weekdays from September 1 to June 30. During this time, off-leash activity is only allowed behind the backstop if the field is in use by a permitted event.
• Hurd/Reservoir Fields and Summer Street Field: Off-leash hours end at 8:30 AM on weekends from April 1 to June 30 and September 1 to November 15.
• Hill’s Hill Field: Off-leash hours end at 8:30 AM on Saturdays from April 1 to June 30 and September 1 to November 15.

Back in 2010, Arlington Town Meeting passed a by-law amendment to let responsible dog owners have their dogs off-leash during limited morning hours. Here’s what it says:

From park opening until 9:00 AM, you can have up to two dogs per handler off-leash, as long as they are under effective owner control, in all lands managed by the Parks and Recreation Commission, except:

• Lands directly next to school properties
• Within 15 feet of playground equipment
• Areas specifically excluded by the Park and Recreation Commission

All parks with off-leash times will have signs and waste cans. Make sure you keep your dog within the allowed areas from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM unless otherwise noted.
